After photocopying the pages of a 1950s Science text book, I began to thread.
In this project I enjoy a visual dialogue with the exquisite drawings done by the accomplished, and mostly anonymous, illustrators of this book. Produced during an era when scientific illustration was still a less formulated hand drawn device made these drawings a pleasure to work with.
The way we frame Science is a window into the thinking of the times. Particularly interesting, and disturbing, for me is the teaching of Eugenics in post WW ll North American education system.
To date there are 16 completed pieces in this "work in progress" series.
