I found the book PIFFLE'S FUNNY PUZZLES in a heap of discarded books around the time that I began threading.

In the studio I was connecting "dots" with coloured thread.

When I saw the "PIFFLES..." I realized immediately what a perfect gift serendipity had brought me. I turned the pages of this 1917 "connect the dots" book to find each one already completed in pencil - with the occasional flourish of crayon.

This little gem of a book offered me a window into the first part of the 20th century with it's text, pen and ink illustrations and also the drawn pencil and crayon work completed by a long ago child.
I began to collaborate with these two unknown ghosts, time-traveling as I threaded.
The original book states in it's introduction that it is a teaching tool - beneficial, not just fun - possessing the ability to make one a "better artist" in the future.

As an Instructor at a post secondary Art and Design Institution I found this notion greatly appealing but decided not to suggest it at the next departmental meeting...
