Ceramic Landscapes

"Ceramic Landscapes" is an ongoing project begun in 2006. At that time a terrible storm swept through Vancouver, felling a huge number of trees throughout the city. I went out into the aftermath of this meteoragical devistation placing plates and cups - which depicted town and country landscapes - on the downed trees and stumps in my neighborhood.

The dialogue between these images of domesticated landscapes on china-ware, and the actual landscape devastated by nature, led to a photographic project which addresses our current (and historic) relationship with the earth... global warming ... ecology ... nostalgia ... transition...

And then recently I visited the Dinosaur Bones (petrified into stone - not unlike ceramic) in Alberts's Dinasour Provincial Park...
and brought my dinnerware.
