My first photo project was "Tilled Storefronts" which developed out of the tiling I was doing in my sculptural work in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Seeing the work of the architect Antonio Gaudi in Barcelona and the tile work in the Alhambra in Granada Spain acted as inspiration for the sculptural work. In researching the tile work in Vancouver I discovered that the city was at one time faced with a decorative crust of tile work... and they were fast dissapearing. I set out to capturew as many of them as I could, exhibiting the work at Presentation House in 1983 along with some of my tiled sculptural pieces.
The other projects; "Ceramic Landscapes", "Hair" and "East End Garages" are ongoing in nature, continuing my interest in the domestic realm as cultural exploration.
